The DMV written test consists of 36 questions for first time applying adults. There can be only 6 incorrect answers to pass. All other adults renewing their licenses can miss only 3 questions. All questions come right out of the 70 page Ca DMV drivers handbook. There are only 3 tests per $28 DMV application. It is ideal to take a 2nd test the same day if one were to fail. The 3rd test should be taken after further study of said handbook.

Then you can make an appointment for taking the written examination at your local DMV field office.
